Stay a half mile off shore and you should be fine. The lake is 3 foot over marked chart levels right now.

It's an easy trip. Here is the route we took last year to metro beach.

We stayed in the shipping channel on the way there for the same fears as yours, but on the way back stayed about a half mile to mile off shore and never saw less that 15 feet or so.

Pier Pressure III is heading to CP from Lake St. Clair next Friday (8/19/2016). Plan to arrive around lunch time. We'll be on Pier 11. If anyone else from CSR is going to be there, look me up and I'll buy you a beer.
