Great trip for you! Bonus, you got to spend some quality time in my harbor, Ek Rapids. I remember seeing your boat that week along the wall. I am in slip 213 at the very end where we have a great view of the fireworks once a year but a daily treat of watching the launch ramp escapades. LOL
Spiders, yep! I spray my dock monthly, as does the harbor staff, but they are still there. The worst harbor I was in this summer was Cheboygan...HOLY Spider haven that place is!! We also made 5 trips to Mack Island this summer, it's my wife's fav place to go. We have a dedicated set of dock lines just for the island. We put snubbers on all of the lines and that really reduces the "jarring" motions from the ferry's.
We did 1,100 nautical miles this summer not including a late August trip to Spring Lake on my friend's 65 Marqus. I have really never boated south of Frankfort until now. I like our water up here better. LOL We did get to spend 2 days on SL with him and enjoyed the scenery and teh fact that you can boat on a windy day, which is not teh case in Elk Rapids.
Great summer trip, thanks for sharing and if you get back to Elk Rapids look us up!

We really enjoy Leland as well. I could eat the Whitefish at The Cove every other day.
We ended up with an unplanned night in Leland this past year, dodging some nasty waves while we were headed home. They didn't have any proper slips for me but they did allow me to overhang a touch from a 35' slip near the clubhouse
It’s one of our favorite ports. The fishing is excellent and some folks stay for a week just to fish on the other side of the Manitous. We used to anchor off off South Manitou and dingy in to hike on the island. Another fun thing to do is to buy sandwiches in Fishtown and then circumnavigate South Manitou at a slow speed while having a picnic. The sunsets in the harbor are spectacular and people watching during happy hour is interesting. Tourists like to walk the docks after dinner and you can meet some interesting people if you backed into your slip.
