Looking for some advice, i currently have hydraulic Bennett trim tabs with a single joystick control, with no indicators as to how far i have them trimmed at anytime.
I'm really entertaining the idea of taking these off and switching to the Nauticus Smart Tabs.
I feel being brand new to boating this would be a safer option to use?
What are your guys thoughts?
Thanks

Almost every boater that is new to tabs says the same thing about needing indicators. But in reality, once you get used to them, indicators are not needed since they're relatively useless in the real world. Tab use is pretty much strictly "seat of the pants". There are too many variables to adjust the tabs according to an indicator only. If you want to know if they are fully retracted, just count to ten - they should be up by then - but go ahead and do that quick test for yourself so you know. The will, however, be very helpful in controlling the attitude of your boat - especially in choppy conditions or for watersports.

Smart Tabs are nice, but you have a better system since you can be in complete control and can fully adjust pitch AND roll. Going to Smart Tabs would be a step backwards.

I purchased and installed myself SmartTabs. They are fixed wing style trim tabs. Easily installed, but there are nuances, and the effect on my SRV was dramatic. I set them on their recommended setting upon install. My bow raise was totally eliminated, completely. I gained 2 mph at WOT, and I could cruise on plane at 1700 rpm (vs 2000 rpm) on my mercruiser 120hp with two adults, cooler and libations, full tank (18gals-hold laughter). It was totally worth it.

If I were to do it again however, I would opt for electric trim tabs so I can adjust tilting when unevenly occupied.

Hope this helps
