I have a 2005 Sea Ray 200 Sundeck. Looking to increase planing time and possibly speed. Currently do not have a hydrofoil or trim tabs. Engine is a 5.0L Merc MPI Any preferences?

Thanks.

Agreed
Hydrofoils require drilling holes in the cavitation plates.. not for me.

Thanks. Pretty much made up my mind--SX10512-90 Smart Tabs.

Yup - go with the tabs. They will absolutely have a more of a noticeable impact than a foil. Besides, sometimes a foil can hinder higher speed performance.

Smart abs are what worked for me. I have a 1999 210 SD and have a heaver P.S.I tab on my port side due to port list and a lighter one on starboard side. Boat jumps right up on plain and not much noticeable speed loss. 5.0 MPI .I am very pleased with the results and boat rides level.

Trim tabs all the. Installed Bennett trim tabs completely different boat.

i have bennett trim tabs and a four blade prop on my boat. I love the trim tabs for choppy water and when the boat is not loaded properly. But for coming up on plane quicker the 4 blade prop made way more of a difference than the trim tabs. If your major concern is planing speed i would consider a 4 blade prop before you try tim tabs.
