Does anyone know what the little knob in the center of the dash does? I assume it's the original trim tab adjuster and was disconnected when the rocker switches were installed but was just curious. It doesn't seem to do anything when rotated.

Update on my vibration and idle problem:
I installed the new fuel filter and everything seems normal. We took a longer trip on Tuesday and had absolutely no problems. :smt038 I suspect that gunk in the tank was the issue. Hard bouncing stirred it up and it got sucked up to the pickup. After turning off the engine, pressure was relieved and it settled again. Sound plausible?

I'm still seeking an answer as to what the little bulb device is inline before the filter. It's about 2" in diameter and upon closer inspection, it is plastic, not metal as I previously stated and has a wire coming out of it which goes towards the rear of the engine. Flow meter sensor perhaps? I don't think I have Smartcraft because when I check the SC box on my CP/GPS, nothing registers on any of the readings.

Does the knob dim your dash gauge back lighting?

Smartcraft wasn't even a sparkle in someone's eye in 1994. Where exactly does the wire go to?

No, it actually says "Trim Tabs" above the knob with an indicator arrow at 12 o'clock. It turns left and right to about the 7 and 5 o'clock positions respectively.

I'll see if I can trace the wire from the bulb back but I think it goes into one of those plastic sleeves with a few other engine wires. From there....?

Hmmm. Well you stumped me on the knob. I've never seen one of those before. If it doesn't cause the tabs to move, then you are probably correct in thinking it's been disabled.

Can you post a pic of this other thing? It may not help, but then again it might.

Here's a couple of pics.

I was able to follow the line to the back of my CP/GPS. There was a sticker on it at the CP end which reads: "This fuel transducer must be installed per manufacturer instructions" so I guess it's for a fuel flow meter. I am still not able to get the fuel 'gauge' on the CP to register anything though.
