Of course the trim sender screws were all frozen... two heads broke off, and I actually got frustrated and ripped off the other two senders. (they were all bad)

QUESTION: I'm not planning on installing new senders... Will it be fine to not have any sender on? I know they cover the hinge pin, but they don't seem to be a watertight cover. Unless I'm missing something?

I have penetrating oil sitting on the hinge pins for my attempt at removing them when the tool arrives. HOPEFULLY before the drive does.

Poorly engineered crap that are prone to failure. Leave them off.

You are going through all this effort on your stern, and your cheapin' out on $150 worth of senders? Seems foolish...

psubill: I am leaning towards cheapin out yes, because these damn things just dont last very long, and I have 6 kids that can look off the back and say.. yes its down... no its up... LOL!

I feel the same way - just do a visual if you need to. I hear these senders crap out every 2 seasons anyway.

I had to adjust my sensors after rebuilding the trim cylinders and removing an optional spacer that was in there. For over half of the screws I had to use one of those impact screwdrivers to get them free. You bang it with a small handheld sledge hammer and it rotates about an 1/16 turn. And it worked too, no broken heads.
