hi guys, long story short , going to drop in our 2005 ,280 sunday morning, dosnt leave me much time . started both engines this morning now all of a sudden getting trim fault reading on the smartcraft gauge for the port side. trim seems to be working fine ever other way. question is since I was going to do the bellows at the end of the season can I live with this for two months or will it through it into guardian mood every time. is it hard to replace the sending units or can they be adjusted. quick note the units were taken off and put back on over the winter.

What was the reason they were taken off? A trim fault usually means that the sender is not sending a signal back to the Smart Craft system. Yes they can be adjusted and it's possible that's the problem. When you re-installed them did you line up the marks? Is your season over in two months? The replacement of the trim and limit switches should be part of the bellows, gimbal bearing and also the lower shift cable.

hey rob thanks for input, had to replace itermedet housing on starboard side, figured would do bellows on port the same time. took off both pucks to get to the pivot bolts. there again long story short did not have to do bellows, so put the pucks back on. tried to line them up were they were best I could. guess I didn't get it quite right, . will be takeing the boat out of the water in 2 months for some more work. would like to wait till then to change them. as long as it dosent through me into guardian mood.

My bad sender did not send me into Guardian mode, but others' did. It depends on the actual fault.

Did you try to recalibrate the trim sender on the smartcraft gauge thats off? You should do them both if you had them off just to be sure.

It wont go into guardian mode from just a trim sender fault, if it did 1/2 the merc powered boats in the water would be going pretty slow :)
