I recently experienced what seems to be a failure of my tri-data. When I turn the accessory switch on, the unit beeps but there is no display. I also get no seatalk depth data through to the MFD, which did work previously, so I'm guessing the unit has failed. Anyone have any ideas on what would fit in the existing location and provide depth from the original transducer? I have a separate transducer for the A98 so I don't need redundant depth, but it would be nice. I've also considered a rudder indicator. Is there a unit that would fit that space? The dash panel is new, which is why I'd like something that would fit. I guess alternatively does anyone happen to have a used unit like this?

The new i50 are pretty close in size...what model is that??

Usually, this era of instrument has an anolog speed/temp sensor and a separate depth sensor. They can be connected to a SeaTalkng via a iTC-5 converter.

Try killing the power to all systems on the boat. On a previous boat the caused a hard reset and depth come back.

I'll try the power issue. That's a good thought. The unit is a Raydata M78879. I was looking at the new i50's too. They look comparable in size but I highly doubt the transducer is compatible. One thought I had was using an i50 connected to the A98 just redundantly displaying info but would look nice. Would that work? An i50 seatalkng to the A98 and that's it?

The iTC-5 converts the older transducers data and puts the data on the network. They are about $250. You could do the i50 or the i70s, it’s a little cheaper. All in your looking at $500.

Getting the a98 to send the data would be great, not sure how that would be setup, but Raymarine tech support would talk you through it. I’d be interested in the answer. The water temp might not be available on the newer a98 sensor.

I just looked up the itc-5 and that gives me a lot of options. I'm thinking I'll do that, an i70s and add a rudder transducer. I'd have two separate, independent depth readings and be able to add the rudder position. That really looks attractive. Just have to check dimensions between the Raydata and i70s.

Pretty sure the dimension on these are 110mm x 115 mm

On my old boat I did exactly what you are considering, I pulled out the Raydata and put in a i70 (and converter) an it was identical in size, no cutting at all. Everything worked great after.

Sounds like a great upgrade! Post pictures when doing it!

I just bought the raymarine i70s can you use the old in hull transducer that searay put in with the old Raytheon ratdata

Did you use the old transducer in haul
