We will be trucking this boat about 2,000 miles. I just want to confirm what a broker with an established dealership is telling me is completely accurate. He is advising that the radar arch, venturi glass, helm dash board, helm chairs, seat backs and railings on the back of the bridge need to be removed. He said this will take the height of the boat from the keel to 12'6". This makes sense to me but I do not have the knoweldge to confirm this myself. I'm wondering if it is even possible to strip this boat down any more. Anyone with experience on this issue? Yes, we will be shrink wrapping. Thanks.

That's likely how it got to Seattle. Good luck, I'm in the market for a haul to Alabama right now.

That is correct to enable it get under highway overcrossings. Then it needs to be refastened when it gets home,

It all depends upon the trailer the transporter uses. Sea Ray's contract hauler has low profile trailers and the boat is loaded bow forward and high while the stern is between the frame rails of the trailer with props and rudders removed. That gets the bridge low enough to avoid having to ship partially assembled. The dealers still have to assemble the canvas, antennas and arch, but the bridge is already together.

I would certainly try to find a hauler that has low profile trailers. Removing the arch and electronics will be bad enough, but taking the dash apart on a Sea Ray is a time consuming and expensive proposition when you consider that someone different must put it back together and make everything work.

I second Frank's post. As a 44EB owner, I can't imagine the amount of work necessary to remove and re-install everything on the bridge. You gotta figure that things aren't going to work the same once it all gets put back together.

The guy who is taking it apart is putting back together. I was most concerend about needing to remove anythong else but I can't imagine what that would be. Yes, we will be using a low profile transport, props will be off.

Thanks, all.

If you still need to talk to someone about transporting your boat to Seattle. Do yourself a favor and talk with Bill Joule Marine Transport. He has been doing this a long, long time. Contracts with the Sea Ray Factory also. www.billjoule.com

Had my 44 Dancer trucked last year. It was on a new, extending, low boy trailer, made just for boats. In fact, the driver said that it was a trailer that Tiara owned. I swear, I was only 6-8 inches off the road. I stripped the arch, but did not remove the arch. I was nearly 12 feet tall on the trailer. No surprise that you need to remove all of that. Good luck. Find a good hauler. It makes all the difference.

Kevin, the link to the picture of your boat with the arch off was a big help and very reassuring that we were doing enough. thanks.

All I can comment on is MY experience and I used Dudley Transport out of Fife WA. 5 minutes from my home and Gerald was great to work with and his price kicked ass.... My boat came out of So. Cal., no wrap and just $200 on clean up once it arrived.... Haul was May 2007.
