I just bought a new Humminbird 597 ci and it comes with a transom mount transducer. I would like to cement it in the hull and use it as a see-through. Has anyone done this?

No, but I'll watch this thread with interest. My Humminbird transom mount breaks every time a peice of trash goes through the prop. I hand made an aluminum bracket last time it broke. MM

I've heard of people doing this with marginal success. Epoxy is probably the best adhesive, but you need to scuff both surfaces with rough sandpaper. The biggest problem is probably going to be the error induced by the angle from the deadrise.

I was facing a similar situation and ended up replacing the ducer with an Airmar P79 - which is designed for this mounting. I would recommend you read the mounting and testing instructions contained in this guide. Doing this should tell you how well it will work before you do anything permanent.

Good luck.

In addition... call Humminbird and ask them - that's probably your safest bet.
