I am putting in a transom shower and city water inlet on my 1988 270. I am putting the city inlet on the port / aft corner on the transom. My water heater is in the engine compt on the port side too. I was going to tee into the inlet and outlet of the water heater for the transom shower, can I just tee the city inlet into the water heater inlet also? Do I need to put a check valve anywhere? It won't hurt my demand pump in the front of the boat will it? Thanks for the help...

I would suggest a water pressure regulator and a type of check valve... Municipal water supplies vary with pressures and you don't want to risk blowing out your current water lines... I have one from perko instaled. Also your pump should have pressure switch and I have a check valve just past the outlet side of the pump... good luck and hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip Jason, the city water connector has a 60 psi regulator built into it. I didn't know if I would get backflow from the water heater if the tee connection was close to the heater. I'm also working on some sort of three way valve after the pump, which is located in the v-berth at the water tank, so I can bypass the pump and fill my water tank by just turning the valve.

I like the idea of the three way valve keep me posted on that. I have my water psi down to 30 psi somthing to think about. I still have lots of water and you don't have to worry about your quick connects... if you would happen to get back flow (which I wouldn't see really happing) just instal a check valve and done...
