Boat Info
1983 searay srv 270
molded 30" extended
swim platform
Engines
twin 228 merc alfa 1 drives 1.5 kw gen
Anyone know where I can find info on the
capacity of my transom to support a bracket for a tender ?

1983 Searay Sundancer 270 10'1/2 beam

I don't think even Sea Ray has any capacity data for swim platforms going back that far. You can call their customer service department in Knoxville and ask.

I think you will be safe with about any inflatable with a plywood or air floor, but not a RIB or rigid hull boat like a 10' Whaler.

I have a swim platform that is attached to the boat then supported with angle pipe support to the bottom of the transom. One of the clips on the transom did not have an angle support under it so I put one there.

I have a molded in 30" swim platform with to
"hull extension caissons" left and right of the outdrives.

I could use part of that to carry a percentage of the weight and
the rest by the bracket I plan on building.

Any thoughts on the following;

If my transom is capable of handling 2 Alpha 1s pushing on a 9K lbs boat,,,
then shouldn't it be capable of holding up 1K lbs
(weight of bracket + platform/cradle + tender ?)

You may want to be concerned about the exhaust manifold risers and the static waterline. Overloading the platform may compromise the exhaust systems design to stop water ingestion. With twin engines, you may gain some clearance.

I have a 10' zodiac rib w/ a 15hp johnson on it. The hole thing rides on the swim platform on a rollon davit I built. There is a heavy gusset on the motor side supporting the platform and davit. Been carrying this setup around for about five years now, no problems.
