OK, had to change the water in my freshwater tank & water heater this past weekend. So in order to get the cold water out faster I remove the spray head on my transom shower so the water comes out faster. Well, when I finished I went to screw the head back on to the hose... As I was picking it up from the swim platform where I laid it, it slipped from my fingers and went right through the vent in the swim platform and into the drink.(It's amazing on what will fit though those things) :smt013 Just one more donation to the river gods I guess... Called MM and they want $150.00 for a new one!!! (they won't sell the sprayer seperatly):smt013 :smt013 There's gotta be a cheaper fix! Anyone know where to pick one up that's a bit more reasonably priced??? Will a home sink sprayer work? They look pretty much the same... and are a third of the cost.

Thanks in advance for any solutions to my questions...

for a $150, I'd put on a mask and fins and dive for it.

I wonder if those sprayers have enough real metal in them so you could use a large magnet to retrieve it??? I think they are mainly pot metal...

The home sprayers work just fine. My current boat came with all home style fixtures and they work fine.

Right! Save some $$

Thanks! went the marina this evening and picked up the hose so I can match up the fittings.

I would bet you will be able to find the sprayer. My boat has Grohe faucets and I've had to replace the cartridges in several of them and I just get them from a local plumbing distributer here. I have Grohe stuff in my home and have the same problem with cartridges going bad (i.e. leaking faucets... which you can't have on the boat or the pump cycles). I doubt the spray head, like most other plumbing fixtures, was "designed for a boat". You may want to also check out an RV shop but they'll charge just as much. You may also want to check out fpmarine.com... or you can just put a petcock on the end and hold your thumb over it.

Plumbing fixtures, or parts, are not cheap though for Grohe... Hope you have better luck with your spray head.

and next time open a valve on water heater to drain the system, much easier and fast.

Dumping all the water into the bilge? I'm not a big fan of water in the bilge and if I use this method there is always about 4 to 5 gallons of water left that the bilge pump can't pick up. Then I have to get out the shop vac. to pick up the rest. That just sounds like more work to me.

There is a better answer. Go to your local RV parts store and buy another. I saw the exact same shower sprayer used on my friends home-built toy hauler trailer. Maybe eBay too?

go to west marine and get the 20' self coiling hose with the spray nozzel for $30. I dont even use the metal one the boat came with, its too short.
You can reach the deck with this hose, even though the faucet is in the locker.

Does anyone have pictures of their's?

The boat I am looking at doesn't have one, I'd like to add one and it seems that it would be easy to install, but if you have pics I would love to see them
Thanks in advance

Todd, What kind of boat are you looking at? If your still looking at the 260DA the hose should screw right on to the dock water inlet. It's just a screw on type of thing... For the parts I recommend flounder pounder marine in Florida. Great prices and fast shipping. If you need the link to their site, let me know.

RiveRat,
Yes an '05 260DA
Hailing all 260DA Owners....Hailing all 260DA Owners
you can see pictures.
When I looked at it in person I saw in the transom locker a hose bib, and a water inlet. I had figured the shower could have hot and cold water like the shower in the head. I assumed the water inlet would provide water wash down the boat at dock, not fill the water tank or connect to the hot water heater....is that correct?

Todd, correct.
The water inlet alows you to use a dock side water connection for your boat instead of drawing water from the fresh water tank. The hose bib allows you to connect a hose or shower sprayer for wash down. It is connected to the cold water side of the boats water system and can draw off of the tank or city water inlet.
The water inlet also contains a regulator that reduces the entering water pressure so it is safe for the boats plumbing.

Ok, can I ask what may be a dumb question then? If you have a hose from the dock let's say....why would you connect it there if you only woudl take another hose to "hose down the boat"? Why wouldn't you just use the hose from the dock. I can only see one advantage. You can keep a nice white "CLEAN" hose which never touches the dock and a "DOCK" hose which will get more abuse and dock worn/dirty.

That's not a dumb question, and you're right it makes sense to use the dock water in that case. Sometimes when you're at anchor you'd like to rinse the boat, so it can be used for that.

I have one of those 50' coiled blue hoses I keep on that bib. Our boat doesn't have a washdown in the anchor locker (future project), so that's how I rinse off the anchor, chain and rode.
