I have 2005 Sea Ray 390 DA with 8.1 horizons v-drives. I just had to replace my props and have temporarily a Conquest 21 x22 on the port and starboard. I was cruising today around 1600 RPMs and the alarm went off. I took it back to the slip and checked the transmission fluid. It was pink and smelt fine. It didn't have a burned smell. The engines have 255 hours on them. Just replaced spark plugs and oils change at the beginning of the season.

Where should I start before I call Marine Max? Do you think the prop caused this? I have ran the boat for 3 weeks on the new props with no problems.

Could it be a faulty temperature sensor?

Can you easily swap them from one transmission to the other?

If t he lake has weeds or grass in it, you might want to pull the inlet hose off the transmission oil cooler and look inside. Sometimes grass so fine it passes thru the strainer screen on the sea strainer basket and gets trapped in the inlet tubes in the oil cooler tube bundle. If there is, just in there, just pull it out with tweezers.
