I have not really found anything on on to change the oil on a 72C Borg-Warner V-drive on a 1988 340 Sundancer. I tried to use a vacuum pump through the dip stick, but it does not seem to go far enough to reach the bottom of the drive. I did see somewhere that you have to take the cooling line off but no idea where this is on the drive. I also notice there really is not a place to catch the oil if that is the case.
Right now on my port engine, I have the big exhaust pipe off from the engine to the muffler so I could replace the packing on that shaft. Where is the line and is there any oil filters like on an engine or is it integrated with the cooler?
I am really pushing to get the boat in the water and this is the last thing I need to do mechanically before I launch.
Help is really needed. Is there anyone here in CT that has done this before?
