Transmission Idiot Light

Hi everyone,

I accidentally posted this in the diesel section originally...the boat is gas not diesel :smt021.

On my 1987 340 Sundancer I started it up the other day, never put it in gear or anything, and the port side transmission idiot light came on at start up. I have checked the fluid level and it was fine. I decided to change the fluid and refill it and everything appears fine physically. I have tried to run the transmission in both forward and reverse and found it appears to operate fine. Do these idiot sensors go bad? Has anyone else experienced this?

In my boat the idiot light is just temp related. Strange that it would be overheating right at the start. Seems like it would be a bad sensor.

What type transmission is in your boat. I have Hurth 630s.

Well I am not much help then. Hope someone with more experience can chime in on what might be causing your issue. Sorry...
