My smartcraft transducer in my boat is going bad and giving wonky depth readings. It’s mounted directly in the bottom of the keel and it would stand to reason that’s it’s a 0° element. The OEM part number is 888828 which supersedes to 8M0122505, per boats.net

When I open the box, the sensor assembly is 8M6004808, which shows 20° tilt. I just received the second one from boats.net and it still has the 20° tilt sensor.

Am I missing something here? Or can I use the 20° tilt element even though the position points straight down when the boat is sitting proper?

from what I'm told, The 20 degree tilt is for the hull dead rise. should be fine

Mine is mounted dead center in the keel firing straight down. I think given the 12 degree beam angle, I’d be reading 14 degrees off center at best
