Purchasing Raymarine Axiom+RV MFD for my 1997 400DA. As the boat is far away covered with snow, I cannot get a good look at the hull. Raymarine offers an RV300 thru-hull transducer that handles all features of the MFD however is designed to be used on a flat spot on the hull as it has a 0 degree offset. Has anyone mounted a similar transducer and found a suitable location? The next option is a pair of off-set transducers and now getting very costly, OR a simple thru hull unit that flush mounts and only offers standard depth, no down, side or "realvision.
I could be satisfied, with just regular depth, temp and down image, fitting my travel and limited fishing needs on the great lakes. Other companies show units like this but not Raymarine for the Axiom +RV. Advice anyone on a mounting spot?or must one get a transducer with an offset for my hull with a 19 degree deadrise..Bottom line to this, does anyone know if there is enough of a "flat spot" under an excessible area in the bilge to mount a 0degree transducer

I can tell you that having the real vision capabilities is very nice to have. I have something similar on my Garmin and when I fish ship-wrecks, the detail is simply amazing. It is helpful for positioning my boat exactly where I want to be on the structure rather than just an approximation of a blob showing up on the CHIRP display. I also have side scan which is helpful for me locating new spots which saves me a lot of time and fuel in the long run.

I do a lot of snapper & grouper fishing in the Gulf Of Mexico and Keys, so a little different that those big lakes, but similar principles apply.

So I did not answer your question directly, sorry, but maybe sold you a little more on the added features of the sonar upgrade?
