Transducer location 185BR Help!

I just picked up a 2001 185BR, it did not have a depth gauge so I bought a Hawk Eye unit with a in-hull transducer. I first tried it just in front of the engine (of center to the starboardside) but it will not pick up (or shoot) through the hull, if anyone can offer an ideas or help I would appreciate it.

It's very hard to find a spot that works on a double-layered hull. Best bets are either a real "through" the hull ducer or a transom mount, which your current one may able to do (transom mount, that it is).

Thanks, I noticed the plugs from the inside of the hull and thought that was the problem, it has a bracket so I can hang it on the transom.
