I have a 'new to me' 2000 330 ec. about 1200hrs on motors and both transmissions were replaced in 2006 according to sticker on the trans. book says they are velvet drive 2:1.(the reman sticker says Quicksilver) they work fine.I have a small trans fluid leak in the starboard trans. It will leak about 1/2 pint of fluid into the bilge after about 12 hours of running time. trans cooler was replaced by previous owner. I have the reciept and it looks new. there is no water in the trans. it just leaks fluid into the bilge. I cannot see any obvious cracked or loose lines and fittings. I have not spent a great deal of time crawling over it yet but are there any other fluid lines exiting the gearcase other than the cooler lines? any suggestions on where a fluid leak might be able to originate from? I cannot see any wet spots on ther top of the gearcase and the output shaft does not have fluid around it.

If it has rubber seals on the dipsticks, make sure they are screwed in tightly. They are an expanding type of pressure fit. Had them on my last boat and just freaked after running all day to find pink in the bilge! I hadn't turned the dipstick top enough to seal the rubber (they were getting old and hard).

good idea. I will check that. I had not thought of it. always start with the obvious. I had the same problem on one of my CAT truck motors--cap popped off and made a heck of a mess. thank you.

at times they will pop the 10 psi breather while under a hard run and it will be hard to notice, the control valve area also has an o-ring that will leak. in forward full power you are using to different clutch packs and the oil will "sling" different directions, so it also as noted is a possibility it is coming from the dipstick also like JB notes, after a hard run check the oil levels on both transmissions and compare, the oil should not be foamed

Thursday a wk. ago, I replaced my stbd tranny (series 5000)
as the result of the loss of the cpling bolts !! Yes,.......
M-Max replaced my shaft w/o lock nuts, and /or the recommended torque per bolt, and my shaft separated from my tranny, bruising the pump and casing !! Because of a leak that we couldn't find, we pulled the tranny !!
Laying in on it's side, we still couldn't find any leak !! As it heated up laying in the sun, we noticed a puddle of fluid on the cardboard, the leak coming from a hair-line crack in the
offset of the flange of the mount !! The unit was taken back to TMI, the re-manufacture, put on a test, and in the a/c environment of the shop, it took the unit to heat up before the leak appeared !!

Reference a Mr. Greg Evans, US Marine Service, in Boca
Raton, Fl. (95.646.1429). He's been in the tranny business
for over 30 yrs. He's the best mechanic I've come across, and would trust this guy to the fullest !!

Good luck !
