Was at Meijer today to buy new Trans fluid for my ZF Hurth trannys and they did not have enough of the Dexron III, so I purchased the Valvoline Full synthetic Dexron VI. Is this better and alright for my trannys that require Dexron III fluid.

Thanks!

I would try autozone they have a coastal brand you can buy by the gallon.

Dextron VI is fully synthetic fliud & is backwards compatible with all dextron types. Better fluid all around & better lube qualitys. Straight from our oil supplier Conico/Phillips, makers of lots of brands. I have had Kendall Dex VI in ours for two years & still so pretty & pink. To get the most out of it, drain & fill both units with all Dex VI. Cheap insurance for a expensive transmission.

Thanks for the replies. I plan on sucking out the old fluid with my oil change pump which will likely not remove all the old fluid. Is the full synthetic still compatible if there is approx a quart of the old left? I purchased the Valvoline stuff. Should be years before I have to do it again since we only put 30-40 hours on each year.

Supposed to change it annually or 100 hours. The concern is if moisture gets in there.

I currently use Wolf's Head Dex lll which is avaiable from many autoparts stores ( Marine Discounter in Sandusky, Oh. carries it). Also good is RedLine synthetic but the key is changing it annually ( mosture) as well as checking it on a regular basis.
