Just picked up my 2006 360 Sundancer... Boat runs great temps good water pressure good everything sounds great... Opened up engine hatch once I got in Inlet just to check to make sure all was good and heard a rattle in my starboard tranny from around 1000-2000 rpms then couldn't hear with the roar of engine... It's only in forward and between that rpm... Checked fluid was clean changed filters and fluid had 2 mechanics listen to it and they all said its normal... From what I read it's normal at low rpms not between 1000-2000 rpms... Anyone have an issue? Mercruiser 8.1 with 350hrs and hurth ZF IV 63 tranny... Previous owner said its been there for years and his mechanic said its fine you can't here anything with engine hatch down. Nothing under 1000rpms and I can't tell if it goes away over 2000 cause it's So loud...​

Try changing spark plugs, there is a long thread on 8.1s and this topic.

Plugs were done last year as per old
owner dunno last time the wires were done... I'm gonna just do both and start fresh and check it off the list.... Hopefully that fixes it... Just weird cause boat runs great and you can't hear it unless hatch is open...
