Tranny Fluid Change

How often should I be changing out the tranny fluid on my ZFs? The manual calls for a 20 hour change (first one) and then 100 hours or yearly. Everyone I ask at my marina, including those with nice big Azimuts think that is total overkill.

I change mine annually and did the initial change at 25 hours. The warranty requires a change initially otherwise you void the transmission warranty.

I have always done mine in the fall with all the other winterization, but a local zf dealer advises it be done annually in the spring.

It is really not the bad, I do have 1 extra set of cleaned transmission filters that I have ready to go. So it really is not a bad job. I do the main engine oil at the same time. I prefer to take my old filters home and clean them good.

Oil is cheap, repairs are expensive. An once of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I change my oils and fluids at least annually or more frequent. NO MAJOR REPAIR BILLS
