has anyone come up with a 'cost effective' way to add steps to the trailer tounge to assist boarding the boat at the bow when launching?....right now i step on top of the trailer jack and then onto the winch which gives me enough height to step over the bow rail...but the diameter of the trailer jack is only around 2 - 3" and the winch is not directly under the front of the bow so i have to stretch backwards a little to board the boat.....not to mention i usually have wet, slippery soles on my water shoes....i am afraid that one day i am going to slip while trying to board the bow during launching and cause some significant damage to this constantly aging body....from my on-line research there are a few companies selling some bolt-on steps but they are very expensive for what they are and not exactly the right solution for my trailer...

thanks...

$300-$400 seems pretty steep for what it is. Why not show that picture to someone at a metal shop and have it fabricated. I couldn't see it costing near as much and it would be sized perfectly to your trailer.

thanks...i had not seen the steps at Overtons....they are nice but cost more than what i want to spend on this project...i may think about getting a 'dock ladder' and see if it could be firmly and safely attached to the trailer....or like blaster suggested check into what it would cost to have a welding shop fab up some custom steps....

I went to a marine surplus store and found what I used for my steps. I believe it came off a boat with a fly bridge. Anyway adapted it and the cost was $60.00 for the steps and change to install it. Not very good picts but it does work great.
