I need to replace the wiring and the lights on my EZ Loader trailer. Looked around and about any of the basic kits will work for my setup.

Hard to tell by looking at which brands look the best and which to stay away from. Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with any certain brands? Any recommendations.

Don't trailer a lot, keep it on a slip at a marina so I am not looking for recommendations on to go LED's or not. I am just looking for those "these things are complete crap" brands or those "this kit is excellent and perform better than expected" brands. I see Blazer, Optronics, Atwood etc.

Thanks.

Kevin

if you don't trailer much buy cheap
harbor freight or jc whitney

Never heard of the Blazer brand, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Wesbar, Optronics, Attwood, Anderson - all good. Never found one to really be any better than the other over the years. Your pick.

The ones on the trailer now are 30 years old, Dry Hauler brand. Didn't get used constantly but just now starting to break down and fall apart.

My $5.95 Wal-Mart LED side lights have been great. I used a Grote LED set that had a better look-styling on the rear. Even the cheap LED's seem reliable.

i am looking at replacing my trailer lights as well....my lights are just 2 years old...they were bought at Bass Pro Shops but i forget the brand...they are touted as being 'submersible'.....this is all well and good until you need to replace the bulb...my lights are sealed from the factory and there is no way to replace the stupid bulbs without ruining the factory seal....i have a brake light bulb that needs to be replaced now...i am going to replace the lights with LED trailer lights....these lights are waterproof and will last many years....so far i have seen LED trailer light kits start around $70 for a decent looking kit....

Cliff... did you look underneath the lights (bottom side)? Many of these are actually completely open... like an inverted cup.

The only advice I'd offer regarding LED's is that they are very finicky when it comes to grounds. Very finicky. Especially if they are self-grounding.

i have not looked at the lights since the end of last season....i'll check them tonight to see if they are open on the bottom and offer enough room to exchange the bulbs....i sure hate to think of these lights as being 'disposable' when the bulbs burn out....

My current lights by Dry Hauler have a little lever that you release on the bottom inside. The wiring, sockets and bulbs then slide out of the bottom for replacement of bulbs. Pretty nice but at 30 years old the plastics are starting to fail.

finally got a chance to look closer at my trailer lights...the entire bulb assembly can be removed from the bottom of the light housing when needed to replace a bulb or check the wiring....i ended up with a wiring issue on both lights...one had a bad ground and one had a broken wire....all better now...

thanks for the tip Dennis...
