Have a 2004 215 Weekender and am considering purchasing a trailer to tow it, it has been in a boatel and never trailered. I have recently moved to a new home where I have the space to store it, but have no idea what to look for in a trailer for this model boat... any advice or suggestions on models and what I should expect to pay is appreciated.

Thanks!

You will need a dual axel. My feeling is you are good the go with surge brakes but everyone has their likes and dislikes. Make sure your trailer has "bearing buddies" this is a must have IMO. Shorelander make very good trailers. You did not tell us what you are going to tow with?

I have a 215 EC which is basically the same boat as your 215 WE, but not quite as heavy. I have an aluminum dual axle trailer made by Magic Tilt. It has drum surge brakes on the front wheels. It has worked great for me. I like the aluminum trailer because it is about 1/2 the weight of a galvanized steel trailer. This could make a difference if your tow vehicle has a marginal towing capacity for your rig. Attached is a pic of my set up.View attachment 20020

I had a tandem axle, galvanized steel, 32-roller trailer equipped with drum brakes on one axle for my 1999 215 EC, which weighed about 4200lbs with a full tank of fuel. Trailer was rated for 6,000lbs. Also it had a two speed(2600lb) winch with wire rope. Trailer worked very well, only thing I would have changed on it was to toss the drum brakes and equip it with stainless disc brakes. Since I boat in salt water it is a much better alternative. Have a galvanized steel roller trailer with disc brakes on both axles for the 240 Sundeck. I really like the ease of use of a roller trailer(as long as you have enough rollers to support the boat properly) over a bunk model.
