You mean I can't get my coupon?! DAMN IT!

(Wesley can't login so I can curse all I want tonight)

More bad new. You're probably (find out here) not going to get your $600, either.

For example:

Economic Stimulus Payment Calculator

Qualification Information

Can you, or your spouse if filing a joint return, be claimed as a dependent on another person's return? Yes No

Are you, or your spouse if filing a joint return, a nonresident alien? Yes No

Does your tax return include a valid social security number for you and your spouse, if filing a joint return? Yes No

Are you or your spouse if filing a joint return, a diesel boat snob? Yes No

If I can interrupt the houseboat/McGregor debate for a minute...
Gary- when will my $5,000 dish (I actually only paid $3,500 for it, but who's counting) become obsolete? That's gonna suck. I have an M-3 and I can live without HD.

I expect that KVH will offer some sort of incentive or tradein when that comes to pass. I bought one of the original M-3's and only learned upon install that it would track only one sat. I went back and checked their advertising and could find no mention of that limitation. My deal with my wife was I get a new boat as long as she got a washer/dryer and sat tv so she could have her movie channels. Sounded like a good deal to me. I started a dialog with KVH and they advised me a change was coming and likely it would be a software upgrade. I waited and when the new M-3 ST and DX (along with the M-2) were annnounced I was told I needed new hardware, i.e. a new dome and receiver. I wasn't happy but KVH ooffered me a 40% discount on a new system of my choice. As I recall I paid $2600 for the new dish and receiver and sold the old one to a dock mate who didn't care about the premium channels for $1500. I got hurt but not too badly and my wife is happy which is the important thing.

Assuming that there are still channels out there for our Sat domes, can you feed 2 televisions off of one direct TV box? Has anyone put a DVR on the boat, and any experience with that?

You can feed multiple TV's off of a single DirecTV box but all the TV's will have to watch the same channel. Also, to do this, you have to distribute video and that is not done over the coax cable. The original setup in the 480 DB had composite video cables to the staterooms (well... only 2 of the 3 staterooms). That ain't high-def by any means.... I would call it low-tech-crap-def.

The new system going on my boat is based on distributing and routing HD video over dual cat 5 lines. It's an Audio Authority AVatrix system... It's kinda pricey though.... about 2 tanks of fuel. (See... I can now justify all these pricey things on my boat by comparing them to "tanks of fuel")
