I have read a few posts about towing tubes behind larger cruisers and wanted to share what I am doing with my 290 to get suggestions. While what I am doing is working the rope is low in the water and limits the travel ability of towable.

I am connecting a harness to the 2 stern eyes (super strong) and it is long enough to go under the swim platform. The only thing is it causes the rope to be low in the water. I also heard that some people are using the rear docking cleats, but I am concerned they would not hold the up to 500 lbs. but it would get the rope up higher. How many of you guys are using the cleats ?

Your rear cleats are fine also - they should backed, plus you are spreading it out on two cleats.

I would much rather use the two rear cleats with some kind of bridle setup. That's the advice I got from all the people I asked who own express cruisers in this size range.

I was all set to hook up a Big Mable for the kids but the Admiral is paranoid of sharks so this is becoming an uphill battle

Google for Airhead booster ball - that will elimate the inablility of your being able to fling the kids back and forth.

I would be nervous with the lines running under the swim platform right on top of the drives but either way make sure you use floating lines for your harness.

If you are interested in a Booster Ball I have one new in the box that I bought but never used. You can have it for $50 plus shipping. PM me if

I tow a 10’ Zodiac with motor and fuel using a 60’ floating rope from the stern cleats then through a bridal ring going to the two bow rings. Tows very stable without jerking. Easy access to the cleats allowing for length adjustments depending on water conditions of course this is slow speed 8-9 mph heading to an anchorage.

I misplaced my bridal last year so we just tugged the kids along off one cleat. No issues.:D
