Tow vehicle for 88' 268DA

I currently have a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 5.3L and HD tow pkg. that's rated at 7100# tow limit. It pulls my current boat, a 95 200BR just fine. I'm thinking about getting a 88' 268DA that weighs ~5500# dry and was wondering if my truck can handle it. I've read a lot of differing opinions on the subject and I am just as confused as when I started. :smt100

i recently relocated my new boat a 06 260 dancer pulling it with a 3/4 ton f250. it was like the little engine that could. i am hoping that i didnt do permanent tranny damage....

You'll be way over your 7100lb limit. Even more so assuming you'll likely want to take some people and gear with you in the truck (aside from the driver, everything else counts towards your tow limit). Get a 3/4 ton.
