saw that on the news this morning
but it doesn't surprise me...at 11pm Monday night it was still over 90* in Flint MI.
cold fronts do nasty things.

Did the news refer to them as tornados?

I am by no means an expert but they look like waterspouts. In all fairness, a waterspout is like a real weak tornado that forms over water. I don't think you can have two tornados that close together or pulling to the same cloud.

those are definitely water spouts. Think dirt devils. More powerful than that but not near the magnitude of a tornado.

Scotts Whaler would handle them fine.

Fox news in Indy DID call them waterspouts.

I do have a video link of them out in front of my marina but it is on Facebook. I will try and post it later today...

Amazing footage, very cool! Hardly ever anything like that around here.

scott ,why would you go out in that crap?

I have no idea....seemed like a bad idea at the time, and I was right. I did wear my lifejacket and lanyard, but in those conditions, I don't think it would have helped. Hindsight is always 20/20.

It's all about what you're comfortable with. I used to take the 10.5' RIB out in 6-8' quite often. If you pay attention and time it right, those smaller boats roll right over the waves and its a ton of fun. More so than any roller coaster I've been on. That's why he goes out in that crap! :)

It is one thing for an expert seaman to use state of the art equipment intentionally to test the limits as opposed to the more common drunks that live up to the joke:

How do you know a redneck is about to die? He says "Hey y'all watch dis"

MM

Scott, you are now "certifiable".....and yes, it takes one to know one. I bet your 15 minutes was a kick in the butt!

I guess "intent" would be easier than "caught out" as ive been the latter.
