Wednesday night it was just my son and I so I had the chance to push the 220. Water was almost smooth and I was able to get to a top speed of 52 mph on GPS. I expected to get above 55mph so what are some things that could make me go slower.

-I didn't have the bimini on board
-props have never been tuned up
-boat loaded with normal stuff (life jackets, floats, 2 pair skis, wakeboard, etc)
-bottom clean but stained (not recently buffed or waxed)

just wondering

I love having the boat on a lift. We went down to get some work done at the camp and things weren't going well so I just said screw it and went boating!

Higher air temperture can rob some HP. I won't insult you by asking if the flame arrester is totally clean.

Oh, and when I got my boat up to 54mph I stripped everything unnecessary including carpet, bow cusions, toys, even the vinyl liner in the ski locker. Pretty much everything which could be removed from the boat except safety gear. I also didn't have a lot of fuel on board. Weight will be the biggest factor if everything's running well.

Quick boat. I drove a 220BR at a SR function in 2004 with a 350 MAG/B-III and it was fast. It had 28" props and it started moving as soon as you put it in gear. As I remember somwhere around 4,000 rpm gave as something something shy of an indicated 50 mph.

I think you have hit all the hight points, especially if you are already hitting 5,000 rpm. Burn off some more fuel, take out the wake boards, skis and etc and try it again first thing in the AM.

no insult there. It is really dirty. I'm going to clean this weekend.

My 2009 210 Select with 5.0L MPI/B3 would go 41 knots / 47 miles/h @ 5050 RPM - completely clean. Every boat is slightly different - so I could have tuned the prob's to get slightly higher top speed - since I hit top RPM.

I assume you put some trim up on the drives?

You might get a little more speed if the water wasn't so flat. A little ripple on the water would provide some air under the boat.

Step it up man! I saw my 410DA hit 67 miles per hour...

Looks like a fun mountain to climb with that load.

BIII's are not known for speed. BravoI's and AlphaI's run nice over 50mph. My CV-23 runs 56mph GPS with a 5.7L 4BBL roller cam engine. Most 454 BravoI's will run 55mph in a 25ft boat, Mike.

so how about endurance? My 310DA will do 16-20 knots 24/7 over the next 10 days without a break!

Mine averaged 55MPH for over 400 miles and never stopped for fuel!

When I first purchased my 2003 220 in 2010 I pushed it to 59 on the GPS with only me on board, 3/4 tank of fuel, no bimini, and loaded with normal gear (pair of skis, waveboard, life jackets, ropes, etc.). I don't care to run it that hard on a regular basis.
