Hey Chuck, this is our 2nd year with the boat and heard Monomoy is a great spot to go, any tips would be appreciated.

I was looking at my charts and it says to use local knowledge.

We are at Hyannis Marina.

It's a beautiful place. I've been going there since I was 6 years old with my family. As a youngster my brothers and I would take our 13' whaler from Herring River in W. Harwich over there and hang for the day. Yeah, a bit crazy looking back, but what a blast.

Today, I like to head into the beach at N41 35.407 W69 59.928. The reason being, 1.) the water is relatively deeper there closer to shore, so you can get in tighter and 2.) the island is it's narrowest there and there is a marked path that allows for a quick walk to the outer shore. See all the seals at play or just enjoy time with the admiral and kids running the beach.

Here are a couple of Chart shots showing where I like to pull in. There are some visible fish traps as you approach. I like to keep just to the south the traps and head due East into the shore. Be sure to read the posted Regulations, it is a national seashore park.

Hey John,

That looks like it would be a great place to go, is it tough going inside, it looks pretty shallow going in?

Agreed

Not too bad. Plenty of water until about 500ft or so off shore. Then just make a slow approach and you'll be fine. I get mine in at low tide to about 20ft. from shore.

Thanks, Chuck/John, I'll definitely check it out. I’ll have to make sure the kids don’t know about the Great whites on the other side.
