I have a slight crack in the upper portion of the head. I replaced my share of toilet bowls to know it's just easier to replace and porcelain can't really be repaired. In this case though I don't want to replace it if I can avoid it. Does anyone know

1)If there is a way prevent the crack from growing. It's in the upper portion and not through yet so if I can stop it I think it'll be fine. Also does anyone have a source on touch paint for the bone(?) color?

2)Are there replacement options for a 2001 280 DA? And if it gets replaced is there a wax ring or how is it sealed?

Is it a Vacuflush system? If so, all the parts are available. https://www.dometic.com/en-us/us/products/hygiene-and-sanitation/sanitation.

On mine there is a plastic outer covering that snaps off. Then there is a band clamp that holds it all together. Once separated, there are a couple seals for the white ball valve and a set of o-rings on the shaft. Replace the bowl, white ball valve shaft and ball seals. Youll have a brand new trouble free head.

Parts are pretty reasonable and instructions come on the parts kits. Maybe an hour job.

Thank you for this resource! It doesn't seem like a bad job at all cost or labor wise.

If you can post up the model number of the toilet, I'll be able to better identify things. In that era, they are likely 800 series. I think I have a 806 and an 808??

I couldn't find a model number on the head . It is vacuflush, I'm going to email my local dealer for help on the exact replacement.

Post a picture. It likely under a plastic shroud that hides the guts of it. Mine separated where the flush step is, and was just a plastic latch that you gently pushed in on and it came undone.

Pretty simple, first time had me scratch my head a little.

Good news, you can do this and save enough to pay for some serious gas.

You called it ... removed the shroud and found the label it is an 848, i see tons of places selling lids and bases but no bowls. I sent out a few emails hoping fo4 a bite.

Just a follow up on this...

The 848 is discontinued as I expected. I was told the 5000 series bowl, comes in bone too, will fit the 848 base as but a check valve needed replacing as well. I did opt for new a few other while I was in there parts. When everything arrives and I see what's up. I'll post the final results.

Thanks @dtfeld for all your help.
