Today is the three year anniversary of Sandy

I remember going down to Freeport at first light to check on my boat and saying my god, these people on the water had the worst night of their lives. First marina i passed was Al Groovers and every single boat was on the ground on top of each other behind the gates that kept them inside the lot. All streets near the water were litered with boats everywhere. Just an unreal sight I never want to see ever. But unfortunately this will happen again as history has shown us. Hopefully not in our lifetime though.

A reminder that we've become too comfortable developing land, and living, so close to the water.
It's amazing that the death toll wasn't higher on Long Island.
Too many didn't heed the warnings. Hopefully if there ever is a next time, people will remember, and get out with the things that mean the most to them before things get too bad.
