To those with Weaver Davits

Finally figured out how to post images from Dropbox.

Here's my setup using the block and tackle to lift the RIB. Initially I wanted a rigid pole to hold it up. But I like that I can tip it vertical when I need access to the back, and forward against the transom when leaving or underway. That way it covers the outboard when away, and doesn't catch as much air when cruising. Plus I needed the additional leverage simply to pull the RIB upright.

The inboard end of the line is looped around an Atwood pull-up cleat. Works nicely and disappears when not needed. I used the lifting ring on the RIB transom. While I could get more leverage if I pulled on the tube, I didn't feel like gluing on a pad.

Looks like Weaver is in my future. I have a Zodiac Cadet (2013 french made). Its 8ft 6in. Im sure I will find out, but maybe someone can comment on how the davit hardware affixes to the inflatable? Again, great pics everyone. Really helps to have a visual.

The hard part is figuring out the exact location for the pads on the dingy and the brackets on the boat. You have to consider and curves of the tubes and swim platform, and the height of the dingy relative to the platform when in the water. The best way is to mark things up when both are in the water, but you're supposed to apply the glue only when away from water.

In the end it's worth it, though.

A couple of hints and tricks...

On your boat's platform, you should have an idea of how high off the water the platform sits. Assuming a straight line, you know your weaver pad mound (or arc) need to be at least even, if not the the platform slightly below (raising the tender slightly) If your platform is curved, you will have a better idea of the size of extension of the weaver davit arms. When you mount your pads, you want them high enough on your tube that if the tender is tied to the side of your boat, the pad is not rubbing the side of your hull. I would still recommend a weaver arc for the transom - it's quick release and one less thing to glue to the tube. With a motor mounted, you'll want to align the arc with the front pad for getting the same angle. I hope this makes sense.

Then, it becomes a question of the weaver davit arms. How far out past the platform do they need to extend, and do you need a drop or a increase in height...
