To have or not to have...decals

Hey everyone. Was wondering if Sea Ray owners out there think decals on the sides of the hull are a nuisance? Was thinking about removing mine but can't quite picture how'd it look. Rather plain?

In 1999 Sea Ray placed some funky blaze stripes on a diagonal on the hull of the 270 DA. I had the dealer remove these and polish the hull before I took delivery of the boat. It looked much better. They did not offer these stripes ever again. The 2000 270 DA did not have them.

Mixed feelings for me. They really jazz up the side of the boat. I have the same red color and those decals look good IMO... my other bigger boat doesnt have any stripes and i believe would look stupid with them. but since the red one is small, it seems to go better. kinda like a sports car vs a station wagon i guess... LOL.

The correct answer for me is..."Whatever the Admiral wants".

My "Only Mate" was acheval about them at first, but liked the look in the water...so they stay. Her quote was, as I recall, "That looks pretty b**chin'!"

Since I do not have the authority to have an opinion about the decals (or colors) of my own boat, it seems a bit presumptuous for me to opine on yours. I like the drivetrain though.

MY suggestion is to leave it until they start the come off on their own (they will) All of your stickers (the ones on the swimplatform etc) will come off. Mine came off like in the first month, and I had the dealer repleace them and then they came off again so I told him just give them to me so I have them in an envelope to put back on if I ever sell the boat if the buyers want's them.

I had the dealer remove mine when I bought the boat. The previous owner scratched the graphics up on one side pretty good. I do like the clean look.

Another 240SD owner on our forum took aff all his decals and the boat looked terrific. Personally, I think the boat looks "classier" without the decals.

Best of both worlds... IN fact, hand the envelop to the new owner and let them work it out. Personally, I like the look of no decals. I removed mine to include the stripe at the water line and the name decals.

Based on the input here so far, its obviously boater preference and like a car, some of us dislike any "badging" and some add all kinds of decals...

Stripes are one thing and badging is another... I remove the dealer badging on all my cars and boats.

When the manufacturers decide to pay me to advertise for them, then I'll put it on...car or boat...

Sweet boat! But I'm biased:smt043

I do like the looks of the decals when it's in the water, but the inevitable thing is I already scratched one...no big deal until they get scratched more IMHO.

Does anyone have a good source for ordering and replacing decals?

I like the plain look on the larger boat. The 'sport' boat needs a lil bit 'extra' for me. However I'm sure in a few years there will be a different style. I had one side of the 240 scratched up pretty good from a sneaky storm and had the dealer replace it. Seems the price was under a quarter boat dollar.

You can get custom graphics for your but just about anywhere and that will be A LOT cheaper then getting the graphics you have from Sea Ray (only place I know to get them) since it's their design and I have heard they are not cheap.

I like the decals depending on the year and model. The new graphics on the 205, case in point, are horrendous. Id peel those off immediately.

There was a time when I was going to peel mine off (even though I do like my year's graphics) and put my own custom on, but that has fallen by the wayside with lack of time (I never even waxed the boat all of last year)
