1998 180 Sea Ray Ski Boat
Engines
4 cylinder
I have found a 1998 Sea Ray 180 boat for sale. It is a 4 cylinder and has a carburetor. I do not know anything about this type of boat. Can anyone tell me if this boat would be a good ski boat for a small family. We would be using it to water ski and wake board. it was brought to my attention that it may not have much power???
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

In comparison, I had an '89 Bayliner (19') with a 2.3 L 4 cyl. It would pull a skier but there wasn't alot of extra power. It would probably depend on how many people you have in the boat too. I personally think at least a 6 cyl would be better, especially if you are going to start of with a slalom skier :smt001

Are you sure about the carburetor?

It's probably adequate, but more power is always more fun! As stated above, a slalom skier might drink a few gallons of water until sufficient speed is attained! For years we skied behind a 19 foot cuddy with a Farce 125 that was pretty anemic. We didn't know anybetter and had a blast. I can get up behind anything now!
