I was planning on pulling up the carpet on my 89 Sundancer 300 and putting down the Allure product that looks like wood. If anyone has any tips before jumping in, that would be great. How many boxes to get? Underlayment? Trim ideas? Thanks!

Haven't done it but want to and I'm very interested in the answers you get as well as your own experiences with the product. Post pics of your job. I was thinking of putting the Allure right over the existing carpeting and using it as underlayment. I think pulling up the old carpet would produce an uneven surface requiring sanding/grinding to get it level. I'd like to keep the mess to a minimum.
I'd think that two boxes of flooring would do the job, but best to measure first especially if you have to order your flooring choice.

I'll definitely post pics of my project when I get it started. I'm going out there today to pull off some of the carpet to see how it looks underneith.

If you do a quick search on allure, you will see many of us have messed with it. after nearly 2 years, I can say it is holding up better than I thought. I in fact just laid 1400 sq ft in a house with dogs, who ripped all the carpet out of a 2 year old house. go figure.

at less than 2 bucks a sq ft, and you can pick it up and throw it away when you get tired of it, and it's waterproof, there is no better answer on a boat in my opinion.

Tip: be really careful in your cuts around edges, curves and transitions, and you will have no need to cap it with a moulding.
