Hi All,

I'm sure this would have been asked somewhere before however my engine trims but the gauge does not. I'm assuming this is a sender issue and not a pump/Solenoid issue. Can anyone shine some light on this?

I know I need to fix something, just want to prepare for the costs.

Cheers,

Cashy.

More than likely the "trim position sender" on the lower unit. They tend to corrode inside. I'd start with pulling it apart and cleaning the contacts within, having to replace the sensor is a pretty involved job, requires removing the outdrive, and pulling the bell housing and all the bellows to get at the wiring that goes through the transom assembly.
If you google "alpha trim position sender" there are several links that show the replacement procedure.

gauge sensor is on the right side of your outdrive where it pivots there will be two sloted screw to adjusted it and four smaller screws to take the cover off could just need cleaned or the oring seal failed and leaked water into it

Thanks all very handy information, will be checking this out over the weekend. Cheers Cashy.

Finally does anyone know the rough cost for the labour to replace one? Is it a days work?
