Hey all, brand new here. Wife and friends went out on the boat and the tilt trim was stuck. Almost like it was freespinning. In talking with a cpl of different folks, suggested that the hydrolic was out of fluid.

Being a computer guy, that means don't know much about engines, i crawled my big booty up around the engine and found the hydrolic engine (or pump whatever it is).....pulling it off the wall and realized that this was the place to fill it. Not like in a car so didn't havea Resorviour like my clutch does on the vehicle. Took a screw off the front of the tilt, and saw that this is got to be the way you refill it. Did that and BAM we are boating again. Question is this:

What do you use for the fluid. I put in Brake fluid (same that i use for the clutch on the ride), is this the best thing? Some said use Oil, some said you brake or power steering. What do you use?

You actually want to use:

QuickSilver Power Trim Sterring Fluid $7.16 at Walmart

QuickSilver is the Mercury marine product labels you want to use. My local walmart has alot of them.
