While i have the steering wheel off, I was wondering what type of maintenance i could do to help the steering not be so tight.

I have the panel out in the head where you can access the back of the steering box and did notice a grease fitting on top so will give that a shot of grease but wondering if i should take it apart and clean it up or anything else.

I have the wheel off for another project. I just took the nut off and pulled the long bolt out to remove the wheel and then slid the bolt back in. I was going to pull it apart but not sure whats all in there and not sure if anything can get messed up if i pull it apart.

I've always thought the steering was a lil tight but it may just be the way its supposed to be. The engine is new and came with a new actuator too. I probably should have replaced the cable too but like i said, im not sure if its supposed to be a little tight or not. It definately doesnt feel like power steering in a car.

I'm not familiar with your set up but in mine the steering was very tight when I purchased the boat. I was able to lube the steering cable near the aft end and work it in by turning full both ways. Second application and it has been great for two years now.
