Locally there are two smaller lakes that have been planted with Tiger Muskie. The boy wants to fish for them this year.

We know nothing about this fishing, and would you fellows mind imparting some wisdom?

The fish of a thousand casts! Trolling is the quickest way to locate musky. Use large body baits and troll them either 10ft or 30ft behind the boat. You need heavy dacron line and a very good leader due to the teeth. Up here in Ontario Canada we troll fast for them too. I use to troll anywhere from 4mph to 10mph. A good rod holder is a great thing too. Due to the strain of pulling large body baits. I use to be a member of Muskies Canada. I thought I was bad until I went to some of their meetings. These guys have suitcases full of 8"-18" lures. Bring some needle nose pliers to remove the hooks right away. The last thing you need is one to thrash on you while the lure is in the mouth. One more thing for safety, never lean over the boat to remove a lure. I've seen and heard some really bad experiences while doing this. Be safe and have fun.

We have tiger muskie here in upstate ny on otisco lake. They are a crossbreed between muskie and northern pike. they eat for seven years or so and die. They cannot reproduce and are a good fighting fish. they are not as hard to catch as a muskie and the record on otisco lake i think is in the 52 to 60 inch range.
