Has anyone been to The Tides on the Rappahannock recently. I'm going in a few weeks with other boaters. We have not been there for many years and heard the resort is not as good as in the past. Any recent reviews?

We have been going for 9 years and love the place. We stay to the right that would be the Inn and always have a great experience. You can shuttle to the Lodge for free if you want. They have a salt water pool and that's about all you can do there. They do have fuel and pump out if need be.
Free ice and laundry as well.
Golf,spa,pools,and a wonderful restaurant.

Worth the trip......

Certainly not as good as it used to be. Not really the Tides without the Miss Ann. It has pretty much become a "striver" resort.

On the plus side, there are lots of local attractions that are new or have gotten better. The wine shop/restaurant in White Stone, Jimmie and Sooks and the ribs at the White Stone Market come to mind. And of course, how cool is Christ Church for the curious mind?

Don't miss the lunch over at the Tartan golf course, best kept secret on the Northern Neck.

Clarks Landing is planning an event "Escape to The Tides" on June 17-19 at The Tides Inn. It would be a 4-5 hr cruise for me and wanted to know if anyone else could comment on their experience with The Tides Inn. I have two kids, 1.5 year old and a 5 year old, is it worth it?

For the kids it will be questionable as we consider it and to be more appropriate for older people IMO. Adults should have a very good time and they do have children activities but nothing like what some other facilities might have. We're just down the river in Deltaville and go up there usually at least once a year with our group. Can be a little pricey and not up to the level of say the Cambridge Hyatt at all as it is a much older facility. Check out their web site. Might be worth a ride down by car to check it out as we check out some proposed locations by car first. Were there two weekends ago to see if the new dock work was under way and the second pool facility is having new decking put down around the salt water pool complex. Nothing fancy as they choose to go with 5/4 treated lumber which doesn't last as long and has a tendency to cup, twist and split way to often. They have dock-age at the main facility and then across the creek at the lodge and our group likes to back up to the pool facility over there.

The Tides was the highlight of our cruise week.
It may be a bit dated, but it's made up by the great attention given to the boaters.
Slip and minor activity fee covered the use of everything, including free laundry, ice, towels, newspaper and nightly smores party. A lot of activities for older kids, like paddle boats and other water toys. I did see people with young children like yours.
A few days latter my group stayed at the Cambridge Hyatt. We have done the Hyatt a few times and it seems to be less and less boater friendly. There was gull droppings everywhere and not a dock hand to be found. They charged for everything including $5.00 for the smores party. We feel the Hyatt just likes to have boats around to look at and thats all.
We would go back to the Tides anytime just for their old time hospitality.

P.S. The Tides Northern Neck Breakfast of fluffy scrambled eggs, biscuits with sausage gravy and fried oysters was the best.

Thanks for comments, it sounds like a good destination. I'm still not convinced it's good for the little ones but it would be a nice cruise down the bay.

We always make a stop there when we are at that end of the Bay. We think it is a great place
