Thru hull fittings

For those that replaced your thru hull fittings, did you use the stainless steel fittings?

Which thru-hulls are you referring to? Above or below the waterline? It makes a difference.

Both, above and below the waterline. Its a restore project. The current ones are PVC/plastic and mostly dry rotted.

As far as above the waterline I have a couple different types Ive tried. But all SS. The biggest issue is making sure you have the right hose barb size and shank size.

Underwater stuff, same thing applies but needs to be marine bronze.

Can't use SS below the waterline. Must be either bronze or Marelon. Above the waterline you can do whatever you want. Installation is all the same - just depends on your pocket book and what YOU consider important.
