Throttle position not working properly

My boat began beeping today and that is the error message I got. It said return to port and see dealer. I couldn’t start the boat until I gave it nuetral throttle. It would crank but wouldn’t start without the nuetral throttle. I was able to return just fine but I didn’t go very fast and I’m sure the boat wouldn’t let me if I tried. Thanks

I assume you have an MPI engine? The most likely culprit, given the "only started with neutral throttle" piece of info is the IAC (Idle Air Control).

I had a similar issue many months ago and I replaced the idle air control valve and the issue went away. Can the new valve go bad this quickly? Except I didn’t have this error message.
