I have a 1982 36' sport fisher that I would like to replace the throttle/gear cables on my fly bridge. I have called quite a few mechanics and all have told me "Good luck". Is there a special trick that is needed to do this? Any assistance would be of great help.

Thanks,

Rob

I have a second boat which is another brand 27ft flybridge. I replaced my cables by securely taping the end of a new one to the end of an old one at the throttle /gear shift end, then pulling on the other end of the old one until the new one was in the correct position. Just make sure the 2 cables are very securely fastened together so they don't come apart at the wrong time and place, and also completely cover this junction with tape so there will be no snags along the way

Cables do not attach to the lower helm. There isnt a chase channel in the salon to run wiring/cables from the flybridge. Weird set up but have to admit that it does open up the salon more.
