I've been reading posts elsewhere on these, maybe they're just a low-production gimmick to sell to the 7 Marine crowd, but they seem kind of crazy from an engineering perspective. It's like somebody married a giant outboard with a pod drive -- the bottom of the lower unit moves like a pod drive. And I think I've read they have 2 speed gearbox.
I wonder if the pod-style drive or other tech will migrate down into the Mercury outboard line or if this stuff will remain exclusive to these giant engines.
