Thoughts on a 44 DA

So before I got into boats many years ago I thought that in my friends jet boat if you had an 8000 rpm small block it would be faster than a 5000 rpm big block. But I guess torque wins either way

For those saying "not (diesel) on a lake" doesn't that depend on, the lake?
What is happening here?…… a 45’ boat needs diesels. Lake, ocean or mud puddle….. it’s like voting republican…… it’s just what you are suppose to do…… diesel….. or it’s like if you have a lil dick….. you can still have sex but it’s not the same…. Go diesel don’t be a lil dick

A friend had an older 39, 89' and it had the 454's in it. That thing could not get out of it's way if it tried. No way could it hit 30mph or even cruise at 20. It cruised ~17 and top end was ~24. Engines were tight and in good shape, just too much weight to push.

The numbers your talking about are diesel numbers. Maybe the newer ones are that much lighter I don't know and that is the difference.

Huge difference in an 89 390 and 2005 420.

Hmmm.... Sounds suspiciously like compensating.......

But the diesel boats cruise at 27mph and get over a mile a gallon.

Uhm, no they don't, not even close. Just the opposite, fast cruise yes, not 27. More then a mile to the gallon not on your life. Any 40+ diesel boat moving at ~24knt.s is not getting over a mile to the gallon. It's more like multiple gallon's to the mile.

My boat and 6v92TA Detroit's @20knt. ~38-40/hr. 48 Ocean with 60 Series 24knts @ ~40/hr. 46 Maxum cruiser, QSB 5.6's ~36-8/hr.

Perhaps @dtfield can speak to his boat. But in any case that is backwards. Sorry.

Apparently Blue is getting a mile per gallon at 24.5mph

My typical cruise speed

I’m 40’+ and I get between 1.3-1.5 mile per gallon at 36-38mph

None of these ladies asked whether the boat was gas or diesel.

But they all wanted to know where the bathroom was. Now THAT'S important.
Amen!

Gas or diesel, the 44 has 2 heads, and can hold 6 cases of cold beer.

The diesel is for you:D
