This Would Be a Bad Day

I was on the phone when I first read this report. I jsut noticed that the boat was running when it came ashore but nobody was on it. Hopefully everyone is OK or at least a good explanation.

Skyhook is using your GPS and the newer Axius/Zues/IPS systems to hold the boat in the same place.

Thanks Todd,
I guess it really works as advertised to do so. :smt043

Pardon my ignorance but do you guys in your big cruisers use kill switch lanyards?

My first thought is a lone boater who may have fallen overboard and could not get to the boat...very sad indeed:smt009

If I was betting, here is the scenario I would go with...

Captain was boating alone, putzing along at idle, and decided to step out on the swim platform or maybe up on the bow when he lost his footing and went in the drink....too bad he couldn't swim fast enough to catch the boat.

ETA: Billnpat beat me to it..

Don't have them on cruisers usually.

Hard to fall over the side on most, but if you walk back and reach over to bring in a mat off the swimplatform, with it idling in gear, and a wave knocks you over,,, bye, bye.

At least I heard that happened once on Lake Erie.

EXACTLY.....Hope we get a update on this sad story.....

From the pictures I can tell two things. The boat is a 2005 thru 2007 model. Therefore it does not have Zeus drives and therefore would not have Skyhook. The other thing I noticed is that the Swin ladder was down. Someone had to put it down. As if someone went into the water planning on getting back on. Do we know if the Transmissions were in gear of just engines idleling?

I'll bet somebody like Forest Gump shows up and says...."That's mah boat"

On a vessel that size, shouldn't the documentation number lead to who the owner is?

I'd be willing to bet the police put the swim ladder down to gain access to the boat.
