Had a good friend in high school that has been a biology teacher for the last 30-ish years (he is 53). Saw it on the local news tonight. Apparently he refused to use 'proper' pronouns with students and was fired from his job over it. He is very religious (has been since I have known him and I had went to church with him a few times when we were younger). He is claiming it is against his religious beliefs and his thoughts as related to his Biology background.

On a side note, my wife had open house last night at her school. A few weeks back there was an issue with a student named Haley that wanted to be called Arlo. My wife sent an email home addressing the student as Arlo. The parent responded saying she must have sent it to the wrong parent. So teachers were told to ask students what name they were supposed to use when talking to parents at open house. One teacher said he almost slipped up a few times because he had been using a certain name for a student all year and now on one night has to call them something else.

This is ridiculous!
 
Explain this to me. When would he ever reference a pronoun? Don’t they usually just call out by name? Zack, Billy, Jim, Bob, etc. This country is so f’d up.

I don't know the details. I haven't talked to him for years. Not sure but sounds like he refused to call a male 'her' or something. There is alot of chatter on facebook and sounds like there are alot of issues going on at that school. According to some posts the majority of students are upset about 'trans' students of the opposite physical sex using the same bathrooms with them. And apparently there are some students there identifying as non-human. Apparently when Daren responded to the schools email he cited bible verses supporting his case.
I guess now school board has forbid him from having any communication with any other teachers or staff in the district
 
We don't own our pronouns any more than we own our age. You can be a 55 year old that acts like a 19 year old, but you are still 55. You can be a 14 year old that acts like you are 37, but you are still 14. In fact, you can pretend to be anything you want, .... and most of us will probably go along with it if asked. Most Americans are very tolerant. But compelling someone to pretend with you is asking for trouble.
 
I want to identify as a billionaire. So I have the right to live in a mansion (bathroom of the opposite sex) instead of a regular house (correct bathroom). Think that will work?
 
Wife sees this every day and it is a royal PITA… They are trying to make a change. The child will only be called by their legal name.
If they want to hide things from their parents, fine let um. She doesn’t want to play their reindeer games.
 
Its gone further than schools and gender. Hired a helper/porter a few weeks ago,he left a typed letter of resignation with two weeks notice on bosses desk. I asked him to give me a hand the other day and he said why should i,i said for the $12 an hour your getting to set in a chair and do nothing,he said $12 wasnt enough. and this isnt the olden days he should be getting more. He is 19 yrs old, i told him hes in for a lot of heartbreak when he finds out nobody owes him nothing.

Don't try bringing logic to the conversation. These people that are pushing this crap are absolutely brain washed and punch drunk on the power that they have garnered by being given a platform to express their misguided ideals. The only thing to do at this point is either elect officials that will support extreme measures to reverse course or learn to live with the new normal. I am immersed in this crap daily as a JC instructor. I see it in the email threads anyway. Luckily my AMT program is populated with students inspired to go out and do actual work keeping the airline and cargo transport industry moving and most really don't even know what CRT is or know that they can choose their own pronouns. We teach in a hangar at the airport 15 miles from the asylum. I have said it before and I still think it hold true, our generation did too good of a job making life easy here in the US. People really just don't have enough to worry about so they are empowered to dream up problems to solve. Almost every where else on the planet, life is such a struggle for even the middle class that they don't have the time or calories to worry about whether or not they were assigned the 'right' parts at birth! I bet very few Floridians are debating CRT, pronouns or mixed gender bath rooms this week.

As long as you pay the billionaire tax bill, you are probably okay.
 
So just an update...there was a school board meeting last night about this whole deal with Daren. There were over 400 people at the meeting, most in support of Daren. School board voted to re-instate Daren and re-write their policy. Great news!

Apparently there have also been complaints at this school from females who are forced to share the restroom with males that wish to be identified as females. Not sure if that was addressed last night or not.
 
I had dinner with a good male friend last night, who is gay. He is hearing rumblings in his "family" as they call it that the gays, male and female, are upset the transgenders are getting all of the attention they used to get for being "different".
 
So heard tonight that there are a few schools that have litter boxes for students as there are a few students that identify as cats. I am not lying. Heard this from 3 different people today, 1 being my wife

Heard this from my son as well at our local high school. Why not just call it what it is, mental illness...

Not lying. Maybe the 3 people that told me were lying but it's what I was told. My wife and one of the others are both teachers and the 3rd was my next door neighbor
